Show & Tell - Art Unit - IB PYP

For our ART unit assessment we introduced the children to five different art projects. These options involved different artists and distinct techniques. Each child had a chance to decide which one they would like to do. After this we grouped them according to their artist and they worked on how to do it, which colours and materials were needed and then they presented it to the class.

We had different stations for each artist. They had a lot of fun dabbing colours onto paper, after forming the shape of a bridge with masking tape for Monet’s project. Others worked on Van Gogh and tried to recreate his Starry Night using glue to create movement on their canvas. Some explored Pop-Art by drawing and colouring a Romero Britto cat with oil pastels. We also had Seurat and his pointillism represented by making hot air balloons. A few chose to explore Giacometti, making sculptures out of pipe cleaners and foil paper. We´ve also added Cave art, Egyptian art, Picasso, Kandinsky, Mondrian inspired projects, made throughout the unit.
